Inspired by some of today's station ID's "Skygazing" is an attempt to make a series of seemingly unrelated footage smoothly transition from scene to scene.  I used unique editing techniques such as datamoshing to achieve this.  Most footage is collected from the Internet Archive and free stock websites, with the exception of a few shots which were taken by me myself.
Screenshot of the middle of a transition between a stock video of the ocean and a custom-animated 3D scene. I use these animated metaballs to wipe the first footage away.
Changing the settings in a program called "avidmux" yields different results on the distortion of the video.  Here I use a unique motion estimation method to produce a classic glitch-art style.
During certain transitions, the video becomes chaotic.  Instead of minimizing these moments, I attempt to extend them and maximize the visual interest I can get from these glitched scenes.  My goal is to make the original footage dissolve into a new work of art.
