Thamarassery Churam

This was a project I truly loved working on. We did the branding and identity design for “Thamarassery Churam” a Malayalam movie themed restaurant. The name of the place brings back happy memories for any Malayalam movie buff. The scene that inspired the name features an elephant, a road roller, and a very steep slope. In a series of hilarious events, the road roller breaks down, so the elephant is employed to drag the roller up the slope, but the rope breaks and the road roller swiftly goes down the slope - much to the horror of the people around.

That’s why we chose to use the road roller and the elephant as elements. The place was meant for young people and needed to be family friendly. My brief was a small snippet of the scene that inspired the name of the restaurant. It was the first time I co-worked on a project where I could neither pronounce the name nor a single item on the menu. We worked on a number of collaterals for the restaurant from the invites, menus, social media collaterals, posters etc.
