Lotterywest - The Coin Show with Joan

The Brief

We had to create an online presence to promote the sale of $1 and $2 Lotterywest
scratch cards to a younger audience (basically, anyone under the age of ‘old person’).
The games were short, fun and easy to play, and Lotterywest wanted a campaign that
would give them a platform for social activity and online promotions.
The Idea

Young people didn’t need to be told how to play the single-use scratch cards, but they did
need to remember that they existed. We also had the amazing insight that people play
Scratch cards with coins. So we created a spoof local TV show called The Coin Show
with Joan, ostensibly promoted by the cheap $1 and $2 Scratchies, which we hosted
on Youtube and Facebook.
Case Study
Episode 1

Join Joan and her musical ingenue, Buck, as they delve head first into the world of coins
in the premiere of The Coin Show with Joan. Joining them is Gerald Grimsby, the president
of the ‘Coins Are People Too’ movement and the proud owner of an extensive collection.
Joan leaves no coin unturned in this gripping start to a fascinating series.
Episode 2

What a treat for the show as Joan hosts the Australian Federal Mint’s Chief Minter, Diane Flagstaff.
Diane will be unveiling the mint’s latest collectible coin set. She has been coy about the theme of
the collectibles, so you will have to tune in to find out! Just when you think the world of coins has
got as exciting as it can possibly get, along comes Diane!
Episode 3

Don’t go anywhere! Trevor from Home Sensations is in the house! As always, Trevor
is bringing in his latest coin-labour-saving appliance at a price you will not believe.
This one is extra special because it will also solve a debilitating malady that affects us all.
What is it? Join Joan, Buck and the Coin Show gang as all is revealed.
Episode 4

This is your chance to see one of the rarest and most valuable coins in the world! Mitchell Struthers
will share his wonderful coin with Joan, and the story of how it took most of his adult life to find it.
It’s an incredible tale that covers decades and crosses continents.
This is must watch The Coin Show with Joan.
