PFAU LONG ARCHITECTURE LTD.
Project Status:  Complete

Located in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District, this one hundred year old Levi’s warehouse is given a new life when it is purchased by the Quakers to house their first West Coast elementary school.

The program included classrooms for K-8, a Library, Gym, Meeting Room and support spaces for teachers, maintenance and the tech staff.  Using the large existing windows on the exterior and an interior light court on the third floor, all classrooms are situated against the exterior facade situated against the exterior facade, which became the guiding diagram for the project.

Using existing large windows and a new thermal tower allowed us to naturally ventilate the space.  Other green strategies included the re use of many materials in the building, the purchasing of locally harvested and produced materials, radiant floor heat and a new playground that stores storm run off.

My responsibilities included drawing set management, drawing details, 3D modeling, and coordination with the mechanical and structural engineers.
