Reverie: An American Fable is a fine art photographic series representing a visual journey through my imagination as a child; dreaming up the places I read about. I yearned for a neighborhood with sidewalks, old oak trees, and adventures around picket fences. I didn’t know these places through my daily experience, and I find emotional comfort and attraction to places that conjure those imagined adventures. In my images, I focus on elements of the American landscape which visually hint at the tales from my youthful readings. I capture these scenes using a Holga camera which provides a unique image style, with much of the frame rendered very soft in focus while emphasizing central detail, which enhances a sensibility akin to memory.
