Inspiration and Finishes
For this project I had the challenge of designing a waiting room for day surgery. After taking a trip to a local hospital that used evidence-based design for a recent rennovation, we were asked to find finishes and pictures that created the essence of the space. With these parameters, I selected finishes, lighting, design features, and inspiration for the waiting room. My goal was to create a space that acommodated the needs of the patient and their family, while providing privacy. I wanted the overall ambiance to be calming and comforting. The images below show some of the elements I would use in a design to accomplish that goal.
