As part of the Phoenix Comicon Art Team, I was in charge of creating images that would be posted on the convention’s website and various social media outlets, usually to announce guests or events long before the four-day event kicked off.
EVENT and PROMOTIONAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
These graphics were considered “free reign” - no directives or templates - I could craft these as I saw fit. Many of these were made with stock images or images taken from the volunteer photographers of past conventions.

GUEST ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
As you can tell, we had to work within a template for these*, but we still had a lot of discretion when it came to the background and treatment of the image. It was our art director’s idea to do something more dynamic and ambitious than a simple guest mugshot framed with an appropriate backdrop, so we took the guest-provided images and superimposed them into backgrounds made up of their work.

* This was the only image that was not designed from a template, since A; we didn't have a template ready for three guests, and B; the images prodived were heavily cropped and presented some interesting composition challenges!
