This is an ongoing series of paintings made by appropriating original Winnie the Pooh illustrations and putting them in a heavier, modern context. The running theme is imagining Pooh's adventures if he grew up. Playing off of the somber illustration style in the original drawings, I wanted to pair them with aspects of a mundane lifestyle surrounded by the trappings of adulthood. These paintings act as an abrupt farewell to childhood relieved with a light touch of humor. Ideally, they read as a joke at first, but becomes less funny the longer you look at them.
