Bat Pavillion
London Wetlands
The premise for the london bathouse is simply to create a home for bats that is also welcoming for people. Natural roosts are recreated with this in mind.
A man-made cave floats atop the berm between the thames river and the lake of the nature preserve. A hollow tree, large enough for both families of bats and of humans, offers a more secluded roost.
All power is provided by a turbine and the structures are easily constructed with recycled or renewable materials.
