Talk About Talking is a podcast geared toward having conversation about the idea of what good communication looks and sounds like. A core idea from my conversation with the brain behind the podcast, Sam Bruzan, was that the brand needed to share the idea that all good conversation needs to be crafted at some point. We also discussed how Glossophobia - or the fear of public speaking - is a very prominent thing in many lives. Therefore we needed to make sure that however the brand looked, it needed to be approachable.
After being armed with the keywords from our briefing, I went to the drawing board and started sketching out a bundle of ideas. Good ones, bad ones, and some that stretched the envelope.
THE PROCESS:
After creating thumbnails for all of the ideas, I narrowed down to six roughs in order to better target the look I was going for. My guiding words from previous discussions about the brand were approachable and crafted.
“Approachable” was going to be achieved easiest by being fun. There’s nothing more approachable than something that’s fun. The brand needed something human, or imperfect and something that people would be able to relate with. With the word “crafted,” hand-drawn blueprints came to mind. The brand needed to look like it has some thought or effort behind the strokes.
The blend of the two was something fun, imperfect, and handmade.
Miscellaneous Brand Elements:
After deciding on the final look, I created some brand elements that could be used in various other outlets that represented the main logo. This allows for brand recognition through a number of different ways such as buttons, icons, and blog elements.

Talk About Talking is a growing brand and will be consistently built over time. A strong graphic presence will help for the identity that when people see a "T" in a word bubble, they will immedietally think of Talk About Talking. I'm excited to see where Sam Bruzan goes with his podcast and am thankful to have been a part of it!
