Fear of Writing Book Making

There was once in my year 1 studies, 2 modules assignments were combined, Prepress & Finishing Technique and Typography 2. I was told to make a book, with content given by the lecturer, taken off from a theatre play
script/book called, 'Fear of Writing.'

During that time, I worked on the layout and typography of each page during typography class and learned many finishing techniques in my Prepress & finishing techniques class.

Laying out the content and playing with typography was pretty difficult, especially when it was my first time laying out pages and pages of content. However, I like to have a lot of negative space in my work, especially in typography. It gives the reader a comfortable experience when reading as the spaces allow the work to "breathe". I also played around with different fonts and explored different layouts.

It was an amazing experience doing this book as I get to improve my typography skills and explore the different ways of finishing. For this book, i did a mock spot UV finish using nail polish base coat.

Also, you might notice I did not make a protector for the spine of this book. It still works fine as a book and I was trying to make the user feel the fear that something was missing. The spine of the book is the foundation of it. And it is often insecurities that lead us to fear trying. Therefore, aiding the title
of the book, "Fear of Writing."
