The Great Depression and the Gold Rush inspired this collection. More specifically how they caused dramatic changes in peoples economic status. Rich men became poor and poor men became rich. I used typical coal miners clothing and Dandy style clothing from these eras as inspiration for the silhouettes. The dandy inspired garments look a bit dirty, as if they have coal dust on them, and the coal miner inspired garments are clean with some gold dust like accents. The idea is that these garments are the transition of the poor becoming rich and vice versa. The collection focuses mostly on pants and coats. The target costumer is a city girl from the ages of 25-40; a young working girl that wants to be comfortable while remaining fashion forward. The fabrics are in classic earth tone colors with a soft hand.
