The Sun is the center of our solarsystem, the beginning of all energy, all life. Gravity keeps the universe and everything within it in constant motion and our Earth within cycles. And like Newton once said;  “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction”.

Mayas built their temples not only to venerate the gods but also to align them with the Sun. For example in the winter solstice, when the Sun crosses the sky, the light enters a doorway in the temple.
In my work, I wanted to interpret the solidity of the temple in relation with the center of everything, the Sun, with our planet rotating around the lightsource. I also wanted the user to experience the movement of the light and the refractions of the moving ‘lamp shade’.

Materials: Ash, aluminum, marble and acrylic.
