:AERIAL SILK PERFORMANCE CENTER:

My design engages the audience from the moment they enter the building. The audience is led underground consciously with full awareness of decent. This helps heighten the senses, as well as fully immerses the audience in the experiential qualities of the space and its design. Distorted conic shapes house the emergency exits/backstage entrance while helping create unity between the new design and the preexisting ruin structure. The actual performance area consists of three distorted circle that cut through the Ground Level and Main Level (audience level). The dancers rise from the darkness of the second level (backstage) twirling their silk, which engages the audience, while enabling them to view the performers from above, below, or eye level. Perspective is everything. The audience can now feel more connected to the performance and truly enjoy the beauty of aerial silk dancing.
