Discovering Layers

This was a hypothetical project where I had to design weaves for home-decor collection. The task was to imitate a textile editor. The editor I chose was Pierre Frey.

Looking at the recent collections, I drew a conclusion that Pierre Frey
fabrics are majorly inspired by their travel. Their motifs, material and
the feel of their fabrics depict their personal experience of emotions. They
look at destinations indirectly, not focussing on the landscape, but rather
focussing on the cultural aspect of that place. Their choice of color
represents the mood of the destination.

Color Pallate
Pierre Frey’s color palatte depends completely on their theme. It can range from
being completely colorful to very subtle with limited colors.
They use a wide range of materials/ fabrics, commonly seen are silk, cotton, linen
poleyester, wool, mohair and blends of these.

MOOD BOARD/INSPIRATION

Taking from Pierre Freys Inspirations, I decided to base my collection on one of the travels of my life. My moodboard depicts the prayer flags that connect the two peaks of the peak of victory over Leh, Ladakh. This was one aspect of the destination that caught my attention. The beautiful bright colors waving distinctly amidst the white snow and the blue sky was a very valuable sight.
