I always been interested in the topic of fast-food and their impact on our societies.
Talking about personal interests, I approached the American culture, and the influence that it has
around the world during an year spent in the United States.
Scottsbluff is a liittel town in the extreme west of Nebraska, a small community that hosted me for an
entire year.
Here I had the opportunity to understand truly their point of view about nutrition and the impact that
multinationals companies have on americans everyday life.
In my first year in the University of Bolzano I concentrate my research on those thematics; the idea
was to mix the culture of street food with the issues related to nutrition.
Togheter with Alessandro Bussi and Francesco Feltrin I created a mobile structure that at the same
time could be able to work as a functional kitchen or as a screen viewing film. Using a strong edited
video and the food itself our goal was to make costumers aware about trash food and
its problematics.
I followed Expo 2015 since the beginning of the works.
With the slogan “feed the world” I was expecting new proposals and innovations but even in this
setting fast foods were able to insert themself as main sponsors, underling how the
Universal Exposition is not anymore a show for different countries as it was in the past but became a
stage for multinational companies that today actually control the global economy.
Fast foods are not fat just becouse of calories or giants portions but also becouse of their huge
impact on our societies.
Helthy Meal vs. Happy Meal.
The concept is the same, a lunch box with a first plate, a side dishand a littel toy, designed for children.
In this version I wanted to create a strong contrast between the two products.

I decided to add a spot inside the box, taken by the fruit. Togheter with seasonal vegetables and local products I tought
about a series of menu, that adapted themself to the current season.

The game inside the Happy Meal is a huge buisness in the economy of multinational companies. It is usually made out plastic and is usually bonded to movies or TV shows. They are statical games, their only purpose is to promote new shows; they are not games, they are advertisment.
The game inside the Healthy Meal had to be the opposite of this concept.
I started thinking about traditional and open air games, something that could stimulated kids
from open air activities to thought processes.

HEALTHY MEAL THE WORKSHOP

I decided to insert my products in the workshop, working toghether with the kids everyone was able to
build is own box.
The box is made out of plywood poplar which was divided in all the necessary pieces using lasercuts.
In this way I have been able to produce a serie of products that could meet the demand of
many children.

After a short introduction I had an open dialogue with the kids and I slowly introduced them my
product. We build it toghther and they customized it using the blackboard on the cover of the box.
While the glue in the boxes was drying we prepared the food they they will have recived in their
Heaelthy Meal. We discuss about seasonal products and everyone helped in the prearetion
of the lunch.
In the end children had the opportunity to try the game that I prepared for that day
