These are process pictures of the translucent drop for Magic Flute at Glimmerglass Festival 2015. This was achieved by layers of sprays and rolling on washes of multiple colors. We used rollers made of pom poms, we made the rollers ourselves. The end result was a very pointalist painting with many many colors in evey square inch. The smoke was achieved by creating the shapes with tape and maksing and so those shapes so that they never got the roller colors. When the tape was removed only the finly sprayed underlayer showed.
