2Cellos Music Branding

The aim of this project was to create the music branding and promotional materials associated with a particular musician or group of musicians. I decided to choose the Croatian group 2Cellos. Their music instantly caught my attention, not only because of their ability to change traditionally genre separate songs into classical masterpieces, but because there was deep passion routed in their music when they performed. They have managed to change the way many perceive a traditional musical instrument. For that reason, I felt the title of the album 'metamorphosis' worked well. 
 
In terms of the design, I felt it was important to show musical contrast. In order to do this, I decided that I would draw the top of a cello surrounded by soft delicate lines that envelop it, symbolising the flow of the rhythm. The sharp dark lines, taken from a section of the inside artwork, would represent the crescendos their music offered. The sharpness is then reiterated as you open the album where the sharp lines are almost out of control. In order to achieve this, the colour palette needed to remain limited. I chose to adopt bright yellow and dark grey as the main colours, and kraft card as part of their textured identity. For the album cover, cut outs in the kraft card was used to further emphasise the layers within their music.
