This is the original photo I used for this project. It is an photograph of my uncle Jesus Maldonado on a beach in Puerto Rico.

I went into illustrator and chose to only keep 25 colors from the original photo.

Using Rhino, I imported the updated Illustrator manipulated photo and created a height field, which gave the image texture. I then sent it over to be CNC Milled.

The final material I chose was REN Foam. It gave the image a topographic feel to the piece.

I chose to paint it to give it an even more topographical feel and look. From the side the image is not that recognizable, but from straight on you can begin to see the image.
