The use of concentric circles on the interior of the bowls was inspired by ripples of light casted on sea waves while the downward progression of the concentric circles and curves on the exterior surface serves to reflect the movement of a receding tide.
This set of bowls comes in three varying sizes to serve different purposes – a teacup, a rice bowl and a spice bowl respectively. The bowls are shaped to fit into the curves of the hands to ensure the best grip and comfort.
The bowls were also designed to have different grain patterns on the exterior intentionally, to portray a sense of dynamism.
The process of making involves wood selection, wood turning, shaping, sanding, oiling and waxing.
