NZ: A beautiful golden cage

A couple of weeks ago I was reminded of how a friend (who's lived here 10+ years) once described New Zealand to me: A beautiful golden cage.
I like this description, I feel the same.
It's beautiful.. safe, easy, and so far away.
Also, years ago a friend overseas nicknamed me 'little bird'...
With these two things together, I decided to use this as inspiration for a little very personal project.  (done alone using self timer)
"Fly away little bird be free,
fly so high so free,
travel skies and mountain highs,
swim the oceans far and wide,
fill yourself with natures gift,
mornings dew a day a lifts,
fly away little bird be free,
fly so high so free."

(Francine Ramirez
adapted by Ian Barbour)
"Birds born in a cage think flying is an illness."'

(Alejandro Jodorowsky)
"The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
of things unknown but longed for still
and his tune is heard on the distant hill
for the caged bird sings of freedom."

(Maya Angelou)
"She stretches her arms out
Stares up at the sky,
Wishing for the wings,
That could teach her to fly,
She's trapped on the earth here,
Feet tied to the ground,
The forces of gravity,
Keep pushing her down,
....
....
And though she's life's puppet,
She'll break all the strings,
But for now she's just dreaming,
Of earning her wings."

(Erin Hanson)
"..la cárcel del paraíso"

(Virginia Comino Martín)
A closer up view of this image
"She was a lost bird in a deep blue sky.
But when she spread her wings,
she remembered how to fly."

(Atticus)
"Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all."

(Emily Dickinson)
"Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly."

(Langston Hughes)
