This series started as a desire of mine to work on a sport I had previously never created anything for- football and more specifically the NFL. I wanted the focus to be on working with existing images and not creating my own artwork as I had done on the previous sports series I had created.

 

Football is different, there are more players on the field and because of all the helmets and padding it can be difficult for individual players to stick out. So I had to come up with a way for the athletes I was focusing on to stand out and be the most visible part of each poster, and I did this by turning everything black and white and leaving the featured athlete in colour. This results in the focus being on the athlete but not losing the detail and context of the surroundings on the football field. The hits of colour in the background tie into the colours seen on the uniforms that are unique to each specific football player in each poster.
