Stylising with the use of CAD
I wanted to research different effects of stylising with the help of Photoshop. In the below screen grab I played around with the stylising tool in Photoshop to give a glow to the boarder of my fashion illustration.

Antonio Lopez - fashion illustrator
Antonio Lopez is the Picasso of fashion illustration. Mostly known as just plain ‘Antonio’, he was a giant in the field of fashion illustration. He captured the pulse of style from the 60s to the 80s, and is still revered as the most inspiring illustrator by today’s practitioners. He worked with a variety of materials including pencil, pen and ink, charcoal, watercolor and polaroid film. His work appeared frequently in Vogue, Harper’s bazzar, Elle and Interview. Recording and predicting contemporary style trends, Antonio also used his immense versatility to adopt a broad range of art movements, from Pop Art to Surrealism. For Antonio, life – bestial and sublime – surpassed any fiction. His illustrations and photographs capture the beautiful people who are part of celebrity folklore, and who were more often than not his friends: Jerry Hall (to whom he was engaged), Grace Jones, Mick Jagger, Audrey Hepburn, Andy Warhol (with whom he worked on Interview magazine), Paloma Picasso and Marlene Dietrich.
I particularly Like both of these illustrations as Antonio has used vibrant colours and has outlined everything in the illustration with black pen. He has also used interesting poses and scenes. The colour palette he has used compliments everything in the picture really well, with the use of pastel colours that create a senseof vibrancy as a whole. He has given the fashion illustration models a face without much detail, making them very simple and gentle-like. His illustrations are very sketch like however look like they have been blended in a sense using a different medium to acheive this technique. In Antonio's illustrations he has the effect of posterizing them.
Colour palette
The generation of roughs and final drawings ensures a consistent set of designs. Adjusting the proportion of colours can put a new spin on an illustration, giving it an individual feel while still tying it into the collection as a whole through the use of a common palette. Illustrations can be recoloured by scanning them into a computer and using a computerised editing programme such as photoshop to substitute the colour. Changing the colour palette will alter the whole look of a range: the same floral desin might be coloured in pinks for a spring feminine theme, in green for a high summer jungle story or in a white for a nautical feel.

As you can see for my colour palatte there is shades of bright red and green as well as nude shades. I intend to colour my costume with bright red, green for my accessories and a mixture of all colours for my kimono, therefore my costume will tie together really well as all colours are incorporated and compliment each other well.
Flats and clothing details
In a flat version of an illustration, an article of clothing appears to show an obvious shape and all the construction lines are clearly stated. Drawing the same item over a figure, showing form and dimension, is more of a challenge. The first thing to consider is the shape of the garment. All clothing must appear to flow and have volume when depicted on a figure. This is achieved through careful mapping of the flat illustration.

Working drawings is a useful skill for a designer to show in a portfolio, because commercial designers are more likely to work with this type of drawing than any other. Working drawings should communicate effectiviely the precise construction, proportion, and embellishment of the design, so much so that they could be handed over to a pattern cutter or machinist in the confidence that the ideas will be re-created exactly like the illustration. orking drawings should record exactly how your clothes are to be constructed, and how all the details, trims, and finishes are to be applied.
Fashion accessories include bags, belts, shoes, socks, jewellery. hats, scarves, masks, stockings etc. Accessories enhances clothing and can add style to the particular outfit. Therefore it is important to draw accessories with authority since they are tied into fashion in a big way and help to sell clothes.

I decided to draw a bucket hat and a backpack as they would tie into my sporty trend very well and make the costume more in the style of contemporary sports. Therefore it was vital to include them in my fashion illustration.

Hat
Hats need to be drawn to fit perfectly on the head and not be too loose or too tight, they touch the skull in several places. Most hats are composed of a brim and a crown, which can be shaped in a variety of ways. In regards to the bucket hat; it consists of a crown, brim and a side panel.

Shoes
Shoes are detailed accessories, and work well when they are placed onto the model's feet with an understanding of the underlying anatomical structure. Illustrating shoes means that there is a requirement for the illustrator to look for the shape of the shoe, the angle of the shoe from the toe to the heel and the detailing. The outside part of the shoe is always wider than the inside part.  For my illustration I decided to draw platform trainers because my trend was sporty hence the trainers although because It was based in the future I wanted to make them more contemporary and futuristic so I enhanced them into platforms.

Bag
Bags can be used to show style and are a popular luxury accessory. All sizes of bags made from a wide variety of materials are part of fashion illustration, therefore drawing the details, silhouette shape and the texture of a bag makes for a clear illustration. I decided not to include a backpack in my illustration because of the pose of my illustration, I thought the back pack would of looked messy hanging from the fashion model and therefore created to much information in one illustration. However I drew out a flat illustration of what i wanted my back pack to look like.
There are many ways to go about developing poses for fashion illustration. I used magazine photos and online photos to generate ideas for my illustration. Developing the pose enhances the expression by exaggerating the angles of the body and by changing the position of a hand or foot. You often only have to make minor adjustments to the placement of the body parts to convey a different attitude in an illustration. This process demonstrates a way to exaggerate both proportions and pose elements to portray a garment detail or the mood of a collection through the model's pose. As you can see in my fashion illustration the figure has a curved spine and the body seems to be more flirty and less refined in posture and attitude. I wanted to do exaggerate her pose because the outfit it is wearing has power and attitude due to the style and colour palette.

The aim of a fashion illustration is to seduce and enhance, rather than provide technical information. Apparel is often illustrated on the figure to give an idea of a garment's proportions and how it will look when worn. A successful illustration will show mood, attitude, silhouette, proportion and colour to assist in the marketing of the garment. Its aim is to sell individual garments or to promote a brand. The fashion Ilustration allows the illustrator to inject their own personality and character into the drawing. With this freedom comes the artistic licence to alter the proportions of the female body.
Evaluation
I really like how my fashion illustration has turned out. I think that as a whole the colour palette works well together and I the layout of the flats are evenly spaced out across the page. Using the technique of the well know Antonio Lopez, I created my illustration to be half sketch, half posterized with the help of CAD (Photoshop). I chose a font that complimented my trend and the pop art feel of my layout. I also like how the background has a gradient that fades, showing another technique that I found with the help of CAD. If i was to redo this layout design of my flats and illustration I would incorporate colour in my flats and possibly experiment with creative background effects.
