Multiplicity Photography.

BRIEF

To experiement with a type of trick photography.

RESPONSE

I chose to experiment with multiplicity photography where a person or item appears in the image more than once. While doing test shots with this style, I decided that I didnt just want to repest someone in an image over and over again- I wanted them to interact. My final image is made up of three photos of my younger brother playing a board game with replicas of himself.

Model
My 12 year old brother Tom

Props
Board game used for subject interaction

Location
Living room in my family home

Technical Considerations

Pre-production Test
As Multiplicity photography was something that I had never done before, I did several practice shoots before hand which I have uploaded previous to this post. This gave me the oppurtunity to get used to a new style of working and perfecting it as best as I can before doing my final shoot.

Lights
One main source of light came from behind me with the camera aimed down at the subject, with several smaller lights on around the room for a natural environment glow.

Camera
Sony Alpha A290
Tripod

Action
The shoot itself took around 20 minutes including set up time, then putting the images together in photoshop took another 30 minutes overall. Several different photos were taken, and then I picked the best three to merge together.
