Lantano 57: Reclaimed Pinewood table (2)

January 2015. Part of a "Three piece family" set of tables, aimed to explore the different results we can get by using the same structure design but different materials and shapes of intersection at the surface.
This one had a weird and rough start. We were doing another project trying to use the little squares from non usable pinewood pieces and making a really big surface, but soon we realized we didn't had the proper machines to make the surface smooth.
But, we realized we could save some of those stripes to make a new table so the work we already made were not in vain. Using some other pieces of Pinewood we had lying around the workshop, we tried it and hoped for the best.
After assembling the surface and making the joints for the structure, we tried water based coating so the square's grain textures could be more visible.
The resulting table was very light and nice. The leg's grain became more visible and the detail of the squares from the surface are subtle but noticeable.
Thank you.
