Performance Art Piece- May 4, 2015

Location: Texas Memorial Museum, Austin, TX

Based off of Michel de Certeau's Walking in the City, I wanted to un-fix the meanings of the Texas Memorial Museum steps, a place that students utilize to cut through or easily pass by to get to another place, to give the space a new purpose and meaning. Certeau also speaks about how our bodies write in urban spaces in a grammatical manner, by utilizing flour I wanted to create a physical page we could write along with out bodies. We then transition from writing to speaking and dancing and interacting with one another in the area.
