I was asked to take my brother's senior pictures. When I consulted him about the style that he wanted he asked if I could take the pictures downtown in Raleigh. His favorite pastime is to skateboard so I used his board as a prop. His outfit was very skater as well. I looked up some poses but most were just made up as we went.
This picture was taken outside the state building in Raleigh, NC. It was getting late in the evening and the sun was going down. I really liked the lighting that was in the picture. I did not edit this image at all other than removing his sweat from his forehead. I did this by replacing the sweat with the replace tool and blending the skin with the color of his skin tone. This is a super helpful tool for photo editing.
Victor and I looked at many photo options on Pinterest and after discussing it we decided to go for the urban look. My dad saw the Wells Fargo building and thought it would make a great picture. Dad took this picture and then sent it to me for me to edit. The lighting in the image was okay but I wanted to fix the lighting so it was perfect. I raised the brightness and lightened his face so that the balance of the building and the focus on the face would be equal.
Mom wanted to take a picture of me that represented my Russian heritage. I saw the mirror idea online somewhere and I wanted to take the idea and make it my own. The lighting in my house was not that good, so we tried to use the light from the windows to get it to be a little brighter than it was. After taking the picture I put it into Photoshop and lightened the picture and made the red color more vibrant. I also really liked the mirror and how it adds elegancy to the image.
This is another image that I took at the State building. I really loved how the shadows and the columns provided structure to the image. Victor also made a great model. When I put it into Photoshop I really liked the lighting but I wanted the shadows to be more dynamic so I tried to darken the shadows a little bit.
This is absolutely one of my favorite picture from the shoot! I think that the globe makes the picture super cool! It was really hard to get the coloring to look right because the sun was shining directly behind the globe and the frame was not easy to get either. I took the picture and then cropped it in Photoshop to get the globe to be the main part of the image. I also color corrected the globe and Victors face to get the right coloring. In the end I think that the image looks really good.
For this image, I fixed the coloring since it was really bad in the original image. The lightning was super bad and the glare did not look good either. I tried to raise the contrast and shadows to dim the glare that took over the image. I also fixed the glare on Victor's glasses. I think that it looks much better than the original.
As seen above
As Victor was walking to the next shoot location I snapped this image. I really love how the sun came through and the light rays it created. I wanted the light rays to be the focus point of the image so I edited it so the light rays were the focus point. The seal also made the image very cool.
This picture was an accident in all honesty. I had sat down on the pavement to rest and Victor and I were looking at the storm clouds. I snapped the picture and did not need to edit the image because overall the coloring and brightness looked really good.
This picture was taken in front of the History Museum in Raleigh. I liked the look of the stone stairs and the granite colums so I told Victor to crouch on the stairs and hold his skateboard. I think I liked this picture alot because the board is very beaten and looks for cool compared to the clean stone. Victor's shoes also bring interest to the image because they are a cool colorful pop!
For this image we took the picture in front of an old church door. In Photoshop, I darkened the shadows to make the picture more dynamic and I think that it made Victor more of the focal point.
Victor and I posed for this picture for my Mom when we were near the state building. I really like the lightning and how the coloring worked out. Since I was not the photographer for this image I really can't talk about how the photo was taken but I can say that I enjoyed posing with Victor.
