The Muppets: Mikado

One day (after probably one too many viewings of Topsy Turvy) I woke up with the uncontrollable urge to create a mash-up comic featuring The Muppets in a faithful retelling of the classic Gilbert & Sullivan operetta The Mikado. I immediately began casting the different parts, and started drawing these portraits up. I've still got a few to go before I call this project done, but who knows when I'll get to them?
Kermit as Nanki-Poo, the hapless prince-in-disguise, of course. He even plays a guitar! Which I easily translated to a kind of a banjo-thing here.
Miss Piggy as Yum Yum, as if there could be any other. They even share the same naive narcissism and overblown sense of self-worth.
Couldn't think of anyone better to round out the doomed love triangle than the perennially unrequited Gonzo the Great, seen here as the scheming Lord High executioner, Ko-Ko.
To round out the cast at some point, I'm planning for Janice and Camilla as Pitti-Sing and Peep-Bo, Sam the Eagle as Pooh-Bah, Scooter as Pish-Tush, Fozzie Bear as the Mikado, and Brooke Shields as Katisha, a role I think she would naturally excel in.

The Muppets: Mikado

What if the Muppets staged a faithful production of The Mikado? These are the thoughts that wake me up at night.
