My goal with this project was to envision a winterproofed capsule collection for the girl who is always cold. In winter temperatures, layering is a must, which is why--as someone who is always cold, yet desires to remain fashionable all days of the year--each piece of this line is designed to be worn over multiple layers. Leggings, tunics, sweaters and turtlenecks are loose and comfortable for working in, yet stylish and fashionable so that looking cute does not need to be sacrificed in the name of staying warm.
The first ensemble is a nice, warm leather jacket lined with faux shearling paired with a soft, jersey knit top. To further insulate the individual, these items can also be paired with turtlenecks and sweaters. To complete the toastiness of the arrangement, I've added leggings that can be layered over tights to keep out the chill.
The second set is a leggings and tunic outfit to help keep it simple on days when layering is too much effort in the cold, snowy weather. The tunic has pintucks down the back to give it some detailed flair, while the cowl-neck provides a scarf-like warmth without the need of adding yet another accessory. This design helps the individual still stay warm while minimizing the needed amount of layers to stay warm
Big and baggy is the new comfortable and warm. All those tight-fitting layers can make you feel like a penguin waddling to-and-fro, so why not wear something flowing and loose that allows you to breathe? This third outfit lets the individual dress in a less strangulated manner while still expressing a fashionable and fun twist on big and comfy. The wrap top is just a big boat-necked, dolman-sleeved square that gets all its shape from the sash that can be tied any way you want, whether it be fitted and tailored or loose and casual.
Winter is all about the layers, but they don't always need to be complicated. This final installment is a long sweater for mixing and matching with just about anything, and a dress when you just need a reminder that not every outfit needs countless pieces and parts. The dress also pairs well with tights for those rare days when you feel slightly warmer, or it can be layered up when you still want fun and feminine to keep you snug in the cold
