Majora's Mask is the sequel to 'The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time' which follows Link as he journeys to save a parallel world of Termina from a mysterious Skull Kid who steals his Ocarina and will cause the moon to crash into the land in three days. On his journey Link collects Masks which each give him a different ability. 

 

Majora's Mask is my favourite Zelda game and I wanted to make a poster with the masks that Link collects in the game. 

I initally drew very rough vector masks using my Bamboo Wacom Tablet to get a rough idea of the shape. This also helped in working out the composition of the final piece and the direction I was going in.

 

Once I was happy with my direction thus far I moved on to refine the masks and add detail. The limitation of the  N64 when the game was created meant that masks where made of polygons. I tried to find a happy medium between the original models and a more smooth model.

With all this it was time to bring it all together in Photoshop, add texture to bring out the design and some additional finishes.
