BBDOATL Environmental Design

Elevator Lobby
When you arrive at the offices of BBDOATL you are greeted by cold, grey walls. In order to softly introduce clients to a space, we proposed a warmer welcome. Reclaimed wood lines the walls. BBDO in their signature red emboldens one wall, a metal ATL overlaps it. Across the lobby, the company’s mantra, “The Work. The Work. The Work.” is toned down, and created using back lit wood letters. The floors have been stripped to concrete. On the ceiling, staggered wood indicates which direction you need to head by creating visual weight near the entrance. For the new glass doors being installed, BBDOATL will be opaque in the brands color, and the "o" will be three dimensional handles. Since the natural light will be coming through the door, it will cast a shadow of the logo onto the floor. We want this to be something that occurs on darker days, so it will also be lit from behind.
Reception Wall
The reception wall had this purpose: to showcase the most recent works by BBDOATL and tell a story. As people entered the office, they walk past this wall on their way to the reception desk. Their movement triggers the motion activated wall. The undulating cubes, each side a different image, grow – showing a featured project from beginning to end, walking through BBDOATL's process. Images and videos can be displayed. Projects can be updated easily, or even showcase works specific to a visiting client or during a pitch.
Interactive Social Media Wall
To increase the productivity of BBDOATL’s social media, we have designed a wall that showcases their Instagram and Twitter feeds. A welcoming resting state of scrolling content will greet users as they approach. Once within a certain distance, a menu will become activated asking what the user wishes to do. They can chose from posting an image to Instagram, playing face Mashup, or returning to the “home” screen.

The home screen allows viewers to scroll through Instagram pictures, enlarge them, and also view Twitter messages. If posting to Instagram, users are given the option to take a picture of themselves and post directly to Instagram, email their picture, or print it to a small photo printer adjacent to the wall. Face Mashup is a feature that was inspired by BBDOATL’s Instagram, Mashup Mondays. Similar to the process of posting to Instagram, Mashup will allow users to take a photo of just their face. They can then scroll through predetermined photos of BBDOATL staff to mashup with their own. For instance, the user can keep the top of their head, but apply a different bottom. All photos posted to Instagram will use hashtags like: #bbdoatl, #bbdoatlmashup.
