This DPS feature is called Sections. The design solution allows publishers to organize their folio content into "Sections" and then allows readers to selectively download an individual section or multiple sections rather than having to download the entire publication.
Below is an example of a guerilla user testing protocol used in the design phase of this project.  The participants were internal Adobe employees who were sampled randomly and not current users of our DPS products.  The goal was to get an understanding of a users mental model of what they expect to happen when they multiple-select 3 objects.
 
The Testing Procedure is read as follows:
The boxes below represent downloadable items that have not yet been downloaded.  Tapping a box will start the download process.  You can tap as many boxes as you like.  When the download is completed, the item will auto-launch for you.
 
For this test, let's say you tapped "News", "Money" and "Magazine" and you see a download status for all of them in progress.
