With the design for the Community Renewal International Headquarters (CRI) in Shreveport, Louisiana, we sought to create architecture with both a social and an urban implication. Through the reuse of the existing Petroleum Tower and an addition that features integrated green spaces and passive strategies, the new CRI represents a point of departure from the old technology into an era of environmental consciousness.

The 250,000 square foot facility includes a hotel, a conference and training center, an auditorium, offices, and a variety of public amenities accessible from the street.

We attempted to address issues of community at a variety of scales while not forgetting the importance of individuality within a group. The social spaces highlight CRI’s goal of mutually enhancing relationships between visitors and the permanent staff.
