The renovation project realized by Officinaleonardo is part of a building built in Rome in the early '70s.

The choices that guided the design solutions were determined by three boundary conditions : the need to separate two units within a single apartment ; the different conditions on the base of system distribution ; the need to give uniformity to the project respecting the aesthetic and functional program dictated by clients requests.

The apartment has been divided into two self-contained units with common entrance, each has its own kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living area. The space is divided as follows: boardroom  hall  (unit A) , large kitchen / dining area in the other ( unit B).

 The flooring is in blond parquet for both, providing visual continuity. The interior "A" is characterized by the presence of light cuts in the masonry and glass and opal color inserts in the furniture as well as in the wood paneling on the walls and in the wooden furniture.

From a compositional point of view the curved wall at the entrance , is an invitation to enter ; the variable geometry of the ceiling design is another element of environmental connotation. The living space is separated from the sleeping area by a sliding wooden door. By moving the panels the sleeping area is transformed into a spacious single big room .

A large door separates the kitchen from the living area . The bathroom is designed as a cave : the walls are covered with stone slate , mirrored cuts disrupt the unity of matter , the floor is covered with a black mosaic and thought of as a moving belt that ,changing its arrangement, becomes wall , shelf, floor support  or low floor.

The interior "B" is defined by the presence of a large, full height, wooden sliding door, that separates the sleeping area from the living area. It matches with the kitchen  wall, also made ​​of wood. The iron inserts are painted in anthracite gray, while the cuts on the masonry are made of opal glass , giving life to games of opacity and transparency.

The big kitchen allows for cooking or just stay to enjoy the space . The kitchen wall translating creates a second membrane on the adjacent wall , at the end of this wall, on the same alignment , there is access to the bathroom . A second door - opening - gives life to the living space designed as an open space.

Also in this unit the bathroom is characterized by strong material components : wall-mounted slate, is placed on a blending  tape and transformed into a floor.

Here the floor meets the mosaic  cladding , which climbs a wall . The  mirrored cuts on the wall create a bright surface , giving depth to the room .

Both apartments enjoy a unique view of a wide green grass field and, above all, on the dome of St. Peter, whose hieratic presence is enhanced by a clever play of reflections and transparencies designed by Officinaleonardo .
