RIT Student Info System Redesign

RIT's SIS system is one that is essential to us as students. We use it to register for our classes, drop our classes, check our grades, exam schedules, and transcripts, and even apply for graduation. Basically, this system manages our academic lives here at RIT. However, the system itself is very confusing to use. The interface is very clunky and some of the more used features of the system is hidden from users. There are also no back buttons and clicking back sometimes returns the user to the page that they are trying to get out of. Basically, the system needs improvement and we were assigned a project to redesign the system to be more user friendly.
Final Designs
A student's primary usage of the SIS is to look at their class schedules. While it is present in the current SIS, it is not presented in a way that prioritizes it over the other features. Therefore the main feature of my design is the schedule maker, which will allow students to not only view their weekly class schedules but add other entries as well, as well as add and drop classes as long as it is within the period to do so.
This is the landing page of my solution. As the weekly calendar is one of the more used features, it has more priority over the other features.

Hovering over an empty slot on the weekly calendar will allow students to add an entry.

After clicking on an empty spot, students can add their own entry or a class if it is during a registration period. They can assign various colors to their entries, as well as have the option to have it entered over the following weeks.

After creating an entry, they are, of course, also allowed to edit it.

Students can remove entries, as well as drop classes in the same fashion should it still be in the proper time frame.
