About my project

I started from an artistic research – meticulously depicting old houses in Vilnius, their fragmentation and deterioration with time.
My aim was not portraying a specific houses (though they are quite recognizable), but to show the essence of a passing of time.
The fragments of plaster, bricks, wood, tile are beginning to float in air, they dissolve in an open space of a white nothingness.
The question that I try to answer in my work is what happens when the object is destroyed? What happens to objects with the passing of time?
What stays?
The thing that has started to collapse can no longer remain intact. The process of decay is unstoppable. I try to show the moment in time, when an observer can still recognize what is being destroyed.
You can see the system and its parts, but soon this balance will change in favor of decay.
What if we can reveal the true nature of an object or an event by destroying it?
