NAV Messenger is a mobile chat messaging application which utilizes Bluetooth as a means to send messages to other users regardless of internet connectivity, cellular service or location. Once a message is sent out, it gives a copy of the message to anyone around you that has our app. These people then send out another copy of the message to more users around them until the message is sent to the right person. In essence, our app acts like a cycle/series of "postmen"; messages are passed on from one person to another until the message arrives to the appropriate recipient.

 

To further enhance our app, we provided an additional layer of functionality by utilizing the phone's WiFi capabilities. If a message is sent to a user who has internet connectivity, the message is sent up to our cloud service which then broadcasts it back down to a much wider ranged area. Effectively speaking, this would enable our app to potentially send messages intercontinentally. Furthermore, it allows for more "postmen" to receive the message and pass on the message must faster till it reaches the right person.

Approximately 67% of the world's population has no access to internet meaning 4.8 billion people have little-to-no means to connect and communicate with each other. For every single person who has no internet, we lose an innovator, thinker, writer, designer, entrepreneur, doctor and programmer.

 

This is major issue in many third world countries due to various reasons: lack of money, knowledge of technology, power sources, government funding, and appropriate devices. As a result, it is difficult for people in these countries to communicate with the absence of stable internet connectivity and cellular services. We believe that technology encompasses our desire to communicate ideas, start discussions, and spread our influence to everyone around us. Clearly the lack of access to communication with others is an important issue to solve.

 

This is where we come in; we have developed an app that overcomes the barriers of WiFi and cellular services. We wanted to provide a quick, easy way for people to start communicating with one another; sending messages to anyone around the world. By utilizing Bluetooth, users can send their messages by "bouncing" them off of other users until the message reaches the appropriate receiver of the message. Just like bouncing ideas off of each other, we can now bounce our messages to one another.

 

Communicating should be simple, affordable and impactful to people. Now it is.
