This sculpture is a project for my 3D Design Class. The idea is to combine two species and then make a sculpture of their hybrid creature. I chose a Marlin fish and a Chicken. The piece was then made by hand out of cardboard using an adhesiveless slot system. From there I copied the scaned the pieces, vectorized them, and used them to have the finished piece laser cut for enhanced cleanliness.

Artist Statement
Inspired by the covert aggressive tendencies of the chicken and the radical ones of the marlin fish, I set out to create a creature that would really give you a run for your money. With the long, violent sword and the massive tail fin of the marlin combined with the strong body and stance of the chicken, the Marlicken is sure to intimidate. The added regality of the chicken’s crown implies that this majestic beast is not to be messed with. The combinations of these species also brings the added benefit of the amphibian lifestyle, which would allow the Marlicken to be ruthless on both land and water. While both chickens and marlins aren’t the smartest creatures, hopefully them as a hybrid team they can yield enough brawn to make up for their lack of brain.
