The Mansa Groupe is a startup initiative by young Ghanaian entrepeneur and  friend of mine, Michael Asare Badu, with bold ambitions to enhance the development of African countries through globalization.  Made up of subsidiaries in various economic sectors across the continent, the Mansa Groupe, plans to accomplish this by means of joint ventures and partnerships with companies in a wide range of industries and thus become market leaders within each industry they venture into. At its heart the Mansa Groupe strongly believes that Africa has great potential to prosper and become  market leaders within the global economy
D E S I G N  S T R A T E G Y
 
 
The Challenge was to design a combination mark that was characteristic of the company’s mission and needed to convey its faith and hope in the future prosperity of Africa. 
 
The logo’s concept is derived from the idea of a kingdom that comes from the word Mansa which means ‘King of Kings’ referring to the ancient empire of Mali which was once the wealthiest kingdom on earth. The logo is based on the idea of hoping for the new reign of an African Kingdom.  
 
The graphic elements depict a sunrise and horizon conveying this hope to the future. The diamond shapes subtly form a graphic ‘M’ and also alludes to the wealth in resources the continent possesses.  They also form a pattern that is typically African. The vibrant warm colours convey a sense of prosperity and suit the image of a sunrise on the horizon.
 
Typography is set in the bold and elegant sans serif, Gill Sans MT. Its subtle humanistic characteristics pleasantly compliment its thick and even, strokes.
