OVERVIEW:
This project defines an epistemological framework for understanding the varied fields of expertise that inform the process of sustainable design. As an essential first step in devising sustainable design strategies, the specialities explored in this paper include systems theory, social theory, ethics, critical inquiry and creativity, biomimicry, life cycle assessment, along with many others. Under the theme of "adventures of design in sustainability," the paper connects the various specialities through the lens of design's history and design's potential future.
