What we choose to put into our homes is usually of a temporary nature: a new rug, couch, vase, or a new coat of paint. All these things are removed or replaced with relative ease. We decorate to give the home a sense of our own personality so that we may feel comfortable.
If you take a look at older buildings or buildings of some societal importance, no inch of the building is left unconsidered. In some cases, even the ceiling gets special treatment with decorative carvings, or paintings.
