INTRODUCTION

Researching into various  aspects of 1930s Shanghai, I focused on the 1937 Battle of Shanghai, juxtaposing the utilitarian military uniform and equipments with the excess and decadence of the Old Shanghai. I extracted the details, silhouettes and fabric inspiration for my 6-look menswear capsule collection.
