This is a character I created for my 3D Character setup class. I designed, built, and rigged this character. I then developed a short 3D animation to test out how well the rig controls worked. This animation is about Brute, the trouble making and mischievous robot. Brute is a mechanical hybrid mix of kangaroo and ostrich. 
I built my character in Auto Desk Maya. I then created rig controls using hierarchy and well-placed pivots. I also used direct connections and parenting relationships.  I found Brute to be very simple to animate once everything was in the correct place. This was a fun project for me. In the future, I hope to use this character for another animation and maybe even add in other controls such as FK/IK switches so that his feet can walk independently.
 In this scene, we catch Brute swiping a precious jewel. He uses his razor sharp blades to cut through the metal bars surrounding the jewel.
