After a long absence, fashion illustration found its way back into magazines and advertising during recent years. This thesis has set itself the goal to study the phenomenon of fashion illustration more thoroughly.

In a scientific documentation, prepared in the style of a fashion magazine, its beginnings are documented, its heyday in the Belle Époque is praised and its subsequent descent is mourned – only to celebrate its renaissance in the end of the 20th century.
