Belem Tower (Lisbon)

Of Manueline style, was built between 1515 and 1519 by the architect Francisco Arruda, being declared in 1983 Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the Unesco.

This tower, initially was used for the defense of Lisbon, using it as a fortress to protect the entrance to the port through the Tajo river. Over time, it lost its original defensive nature and it was use as customs, telegraph post, lighthouse or even prison.

Monument to the Discoveries (Lisbon)

52 mettres high, it was erected in 1960 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Infant Henrique The Navigator, one of the greatest portuguese discoverers.

This monument with the form of the prow of a caravel, got a lot of characters in both cloths (which had to do with great discoveries in the history of Portugal) led by the infant.

25th of April Bridge (Lisbon)

The 25th of April Bridge, with a length of 2277 mettres, is the longest suspension bridge in Europe. It has has two different heights: upstairs for cars and lower, added in 1999, for trains.

Opened to traffic in 1966, was built by the same company as the Golden Gate under the name Salazar Bridge. Later, acquired its current name at the end of the Carnation Revolution in 25th of April 1974.

Pedro IV Square (Lisbon)

Also known as Rossio Square and located in La Baixa, is the vital center of Lisbon.

Pedro IV Square, where stands the statue of King Soldier, is one of the most vibrant areas of the city because in its adjoining streets can be found the most popular shops, bars and restaurants of Lisbon.

Botanical Garden (Lisbon)

The Botanical Garden of Lisbon University was inaugurated in 1878 with a great diversity of plants collected from around the world under Portuguese administration, by the german Edmund Goeze and the french Jules Alexandre Daveau.

The collections of the garden serve different fields of botanical research, showing the public the great diversity of plants or processes like ecological succession.

National Palace of Pena (Sintra)

National Palace of Pena (Palacio Nacional Da Pena) is one of the highest expressions of romantic nineteenth century in Portugal, including various architectural styles such as mudejar and manueline motifs that integrate gothic towers and baroque furniture inside.

Located in Sintra and surrounded by a park of over 200 hectares in which hundreds of local and exotic species mix, was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1995.
