A self initiated brief for university in which I chose to create a new line of Yankee candle products and package them. 

 

Packaged is a collection of four aromatherapy candles introduced to help relieve four different health issues that many people often come into contact with daily. These include; depression (Memories of Joy), low spirit (Kindled spirit), insomnia (Silent slumber) and High blood pressure (Slow down).

 

The products range across two sizes, a set of tea lights for those who want to burn the scent little and often, or a small pillar for those who like to burn their candles for larger amounts of time. 

 

 

 

The packaging appears clean, modern and almost luxury emphasizing the straight edges of the hexagon shape. I wanted the candles to appear almost like they were being recieved in a gift box, as many may buy their friends or loved ones such a product as a gift if they feel they need a boost. 

 

 

I wanted the aesthetics of the boxes to feel very soothing and calming, and so for the texture of the packaging for each different scent I hand painted a landscape using both acrylic and water colours. Each scene painted upon the boxes, relates to the issue which the candle aims to help to relieve. Silent slumber (insomnia) displays a night sky, Slow down (high blood pressure) portrays a beach and lapping waves, Memories of joy (depression) implements a field of summery flowers and Kindled spirit (spirit booster) demonstrates a sunrise defining a new beggining. 

 

 

Each of the boxes is then finished off with some small foil details relevant to each of the landscapes across the packaging. This adds an extra bit of luxury and contrast, and further helps the receiver of the product feel like they are aquiring something very special.
