Every life is like a square. Every Choice is like a fold. The exploration of a simple origami shape, and its ability to represent an individual is expressed throughout the Folding Choice installation. The choice to create origami in the very popular and Universally known shape of a children’s game allows for each individual viewer to relate in their own way. With each piece of paper going through the strategic folding process, the paper is transformed from a flat square into a three-dimensional and beautiful piece of art. The installation starts out with only a few pieces of origami surrounding the doorway, as to entice the viewers to travel deeper into the installation. With further exploration into the installation space it becomes apparent that the pieces of origami are growing towards a larger final destination. Though some have gathered in smaller yet still condensed clusters on the journey towards the largest cluster. Each viewer of the installation is encouraged to remove a piece or two of origami and migrate it to another space in the installation, therefore creating an ever changing exhibition, and illustrating in the idea of constant migration. The installation can be viewed in full light, or darkness accompanied by tiny battery powered bulbs.
