The online social networking phenomenon has swept the world and has recently secured its spot as the third most popular form of communication. Due to its popularity and the demand for service, the number of online social networks has quickly grown. Some of the more established networks are Facebook, MySpace, and LinkedIn. We are fascinated by this growth, and have thus chosen our scope of research to be on such networks.

This research proposal summarizes the methods of research that were conducted to reach this focus. One can also find conclusions made from the gathered data, as well as a prototype created for a new Facebook Internet browser.
