1 INSPIRATION
For this project I was inspired by the photographic work of Kristy Mitchell (samples of work referenced below). Her elaborate use of colour and compositional arrangement of hand crafted materials, along with her exaggerated use of makeup, is what inspired me to create my photographic diptych
2 PROCESS
The raw images (referenced below) were imported into Photoshop and utilizng the features of the software, the skin was airbrushed, colours were enhanced and corrected and various minute details such as shadows and highlights were added to allow for a cohesive final product.
3 FINAL
Photography, Make-up & Post-production by Salathiel Wells (January, 2015)
This photographic diptych explores the transformation of self through time, by using religious iconography to emphasize the message. It deals with the individual in earlier stages of life as having an aura of innocence and purity, however as life progresses the world seemingly gets the better of us and transforms our once innoncent self into individuals governed and ruled and often encapsulated by sin/impurity. Nevertheless, hope always exists to reclaim this innocence.
