This photo-narrative is about the concept of 'personal baggage.'

My baggage is me, and yours is you. Its a way of life that we pick  up from the downs in the past. These experiences and emotional turbulances limit us as people, and disguise us in a mask of the stereotypical “perfect.”
These baggages begin to affect our relationships. Our unconscious brings up the past experiences and stress that conceal our clear and rational judgement, and we start to see the worst in people. It tells us how to behave, so we appear strong, and hide the worst in us. We behave in accordance to our past, with its weight weighing us down. It becomes the reason for our actions and reactions.
As one realizes the existance of this baggage and its effect, they start to learn how to make peace with its negatives. Letting themselves grow from the shadows of the past into the light of the future.
The baggage fades within, and we grow as people out and above the chains of emotional burden.

I have used the technique of double exposure to create these images.
This series of work was for an experimental photography course assignment in college.

This project, was also presented at the Goethe Institute and National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bangalore.
